Probably, RX 570 or 580 would still be a good option but not sure if it makes sense spending that money on 4 years old GPU (?) I'm not a professional using that software to make money. I was thinking about getting a second-hand RX 5700 (or XT) but they are still expensive. (I have a 2011 with a dead motherboard.). I went through the list on Apple Support website and compared what's there. In this YouTube video with a Mac Mini 2012 + eGPU - the Radeon RX 560 - increased the frames per second (fps). But I'm struggling to find a suitable graphics card for that. the computer also won’t reboot if the eGPU is plugged in. i have tried reinstalling the drivers, rebooting, purging the drivers, reinstalling the OS, and prayer. ‘nvidia-smi’, on the other hand, can’t talk to the drivers, so it can’t talk to the GPU. I think I've already decided to go for external enclosure Razer Core X - I don't need a fancy Chroma version. The NVIDIA drivers are all installed, and the system can detect the GPU. I want it for Sketchup visualization, to speed up FCP X editing (specially with some plug-ins, occasionally) and to help rendering After Effects projects (also, occasionally). I'm looking to get an external GPU for my 2018 Mac Mini. External GPU on Mac mini 2012 So I’ve got an Mac mini Server (late 2012) with 16GB RAM and a Samsung 860 EVO 500g / Apple HD 1TB combo. ![]()
